So do you actually PLAY with your 10mo? If so, what???

My ds, nearly 10mths, loves to explore cupboards, drawers, boxes etc and tip the contents wherever it is most in the way! We go to M & T groups 2 mornings per week, library 1 morning for rhymetime, go out the other days (in teh mornings usually), do teh school run, potter around indoors (crap weather necessitates we do this), and generally kill time between naps and food. Just interested to know if any MNetters actually PLAY with their 9 - 10monthers? I seem to let him get on with it quite a lot and started to feel guilty even though he seems quite happy!

It sounds like you do loads already , with my 10mth old being the 2nd she just fits into whatever Im doing with my eldest dd (3.10mths) and then at home she just potters around the house !

I have a really good box of all sorts of things (bit like a treasure basket) and its all safe stuff and she loves emptying that everywhere. If I do sit with her its to have a cuddle and a sing song like row the boat or something. Sometimes I walk her around house and explain things to her about what things are or I read some of the little books here and there to her. I dont do much really. They pick up an awful lot explorinbg themselves.

DD is 13 months and we sit and play ball - she loves rolling her ball back and forth. We read and work on her physio (not very mobile yet). We go swimming once a week, to a M&B group and to a music group. Other than that I just potter around and she plays quite happily.

Hi Cruisemum sounds like you are doing lots, I think your ds is getting lots of stimulation and also needs that time to explore and be independent. Getting a little routine going each day can teach them to expect things eg after the school run and snack then read a book, after lunch sing songs, in the afternoon start playing with interesting things. Sounds like you are doing fine.

Meant to say Cruisemum - I also worry that I'm not doing enough with DD.

Hey Cruise! How is the sleeping?!

Soudns like you do plenty! DD 12 months is the same as yours, she busies herself with cupboards, trying to walk, geting into things she should not, playing with her toys and is fantastic at occupying herself. I do sometimes get down on the floor and play with her, roll a ball to her, do pat-a-cake and other hand clapping, put music on and sing and dance with her, but to be honest, I think she would be just as happy and content if I did not!

I dont go to mother and baby group, but go to water babies at the moment.
Your DS sounds adorable, and very well loved!

hi pav! nights are going really well (not last night though . Think he may be teething again.
How's your lo doing now? Are you still on SIFTW? I occasionally visit adn see ifthe old names are still there. Sadly some still are . I guess they will get it fixed eventually. Jsut saddens me that these babies are going round sleep deprived. i'm glad i took decisive action. Defo better all round. but that's just my opinion .
Sooooo, it would appear that i am doing just about what everyone else is doing! Thanks for posts. I was a little concerned that i don't actively 'play' but now i feel much relieved. Thanks
