DS1 woke up vomiting this morning. He is is y3. He will have to stay off today but have to take ds2 in who is in reception. Is it acceptable to take ds1 on the school run into the yard?? Can't figure out how to do it.

Is there another parent who can take DS2 to school for you? I always have two or three other mums I could ask, and I have done the same for them.

Can a friend or neighbour help? I have hel0ed out in similar situations.

At that age I would take the car and leave DD in the car for a few minutes while I dropped her brother off.

If that's not an option then yes take him with you but just make sure he doesn't go near any of his friends or try to play with anyone.

I usually don't take the ill child up in the morning. Either myself or DH leaves the house slightly late. If this is impossible, I'd ask another mum who is on the same street and I reciprocate for her.
In the afternoon, I take the ill child up if possible. If not, my mum or dad may be around to do collection or sit with the ill child if work allows.

If not, I have friends I could ask.

Yes, what Mig says. I've done that as well.

Car and a bucket, he will be fine for 5 mins whilst you drop your youngest off.

I have collected a well child from a car when the parent had no choice but to bring sick child as well as sick bucket.

I parked up as normal, waited for friend, they pull up, I take their well child in.

But Dh has also done the school run, especially if there is diarrhoea.

Does anyone go past your house that could collect your well child?

confusednorthner · 28/01/2019 06:22

Or get to school early, park near gate and stop first suitable parent to take youngest in?

AllStar14 · 28/01/2019 06:23

I don't have anyone I could ask to help so I would also leave unwell DC in the car to drop others off.

Ok thanks for advice. I think asking someone to collect ds2 from the car will be the best bet.

Call the school and leave a message saying you will have a sick child and can a member of staff come out to the car?
