Family nurse rant

How do I get rid of my family nurse?
Me and my partner were being nosey and picked up the buzzer phone just after she left so we could hear what she was saying as she left and she was on the phone bitching about us!!🙈 don’t wanna go into detail about it but I have anxiety and it’s really knocked me down how someone professional could be thinking and saying things like that. Didn’t even want her in the first place tbh I get a lot of support elsewhere and she’s unneeded
What do I say to get rid of her

What's a family nurse? Do u mean health visitor?

elliesm98 · 27/01/2019 22:53

@Mumof1andacat

Family nurse is a health visitor specifically for under 25's
I think they just come out more often than a health visitor would

If it’s a health visitor then you just tell them you no longer need their services.

If she was bitching about you unprofessionally then complain and ask for someone else.

You can opt out of FNP but I would talk to her first and explain you heard her talking and aren't finding the service useful.

If there are safeguarding issues, then it might not be as simple.

Drop in something she said casually in conversation next time she's in. That way she'll know you know and may rethink the way she talks about people. For example if she'd been complaining that you ate too many sweets (first thing thst popped into my head haha) "Don't you just hate it when people eat nothing but sweets? Maybe someone should kindly suggest how it's bad for their teeth?" Then sit back and watch their eyes pop out and hopefully have the decency to look ashamed of themselves!

If she's been no help then makes sense not to see her again but if there was anything useful I'd request someone else and if asked say she has a negative attitude that you don't want around after hearing her on the phone.
