Is he breastfeeding or formula?

For DD, we switched to comfort formula milk and the MAM anti-colic bottles and it practically disappeared overnight.

If he is awake all day I would say it’s over tiredness and overstimulation. I would be watching him in the day so not to miss his tiredness cues.

He's 5 weeks and he only naps once a day for 3 hours and little 10-15 mins naps here and there then doesn't properly settle till 12 at night and wakes every 3 hours for a feed then he's up at 10 in the morning for the day

His night time sleep sounds good for a newborn in my opinion! Three hourly wakings is amazing. Does his nap better in the day when being held? I did that for the fourth trimester to make sure my baby clocked up the hours of sleep. Good with with the colic - my friend swore by an electronic rocker as it's the only thing that comforted her baby during the colic weeks.

That sounds exactly like my 5 week old colicky baby’s sleep pattern. I don’t think it’s particularly abnormal. I’m now putting him in the sling and giving him Dentinox, which has helped a lot (albeit is not a miracle cure).

I am in exactly the same boat, my baby is 5 weeks old too and hardly sleeps, she can be up for 8 hours straight and gets so frustrated because she is overtired, I am trying colief drops recommend by the health visitor but not sure they are helping much, so glad I saw this thread as this is a tough time and least other people going through the same thing, just keep reminding myself this colic phase won't last forever.

My dd was very colicky at this age too. We stuck to the same formula but used anti colic bottles (tommee tippee but only because we have the tt steriliser) and put dentinox colic drops in each feed. It took a week or so but it did work like a dream. I eventually weaned down the dentinox until we wernt using it any more and carried on using the bottles til she was 4 months and she's absolutely fine now. It's really hard to deal with the screaming but just remind yourself it's not forever! And I so.eti.es used to out music in and put headphones in to drown it out, it kept me sane foe the really bad days lol

Poor baby. My son had colic and would cry for 3 hours straight at night! :( it was awful. One time he was crying so bad he almost stopped breathing. His mouth went blue and had to be taken to the hospital. We switched him formula to colic and constipation. The next day he was a little off because of the change I suppose but after 3 days he was a new baby!! He stopped crying completely at night. Changing the formula really really helped him.

What's he doing when he's awake?
