Toddler horrible to dog

My dd will be 2 in March and she is horrible to the dog. If he comes near me she tries to kick or wave him away. He usually sits on the sofa next to me and if he tries to get up she run onto the sofa and blocks him from being able to get on it. How can I stop her from behaving this way. I always say no and that's not very nice when she behaves this way but I was wondering if anyone had any other tips?

She sounds scared or jealous of the dog to me, rather than horrible. Kicking is obviously not ok, but waving the dog away is something she's perfectly entitled to do.

When I say waving I mean pushing the dog away. I just want to try and positively encourage her to be nice to him.

Sounds like she's seeing the dog as a competitor for your attention.
Give her positive attention when the dog is around and she's not being nasty to him. Maybe if the dog wants to get on the sofa with you, sit in the middle, and invite her to come for a cuddle the other side?
