48 hour rule after sickness.

Does anyone else get annoyed when parents send their children in too soon after being sick?

DS is really prone to sickness bugs (I’m unsure why). But I always keep him off for at least 48 hours afterwards to try and prevent it spreading, even if he is pretty much back to normal in himself sooner, I will keep him off for 48 hours. I understand how hard it is when parents work. Me and OH do it between us somehow.

Anyway, a school run friend, neighbour posted on Facebook that her daughter had been sick Friday through until Sunday afternoon then sent her into school on Monday, bloody infuriating as it hadn’t even been 24 hours!! She sent her into school in the morning, but the Mum complained when the school decided to send her home a couple hours later. The poor little girl still wasn’t better and probably feeling weak after 2 days of vomiting!! I’m 100 percent with the school. I dread to think how many children she spread it to in the couple hours she was there. Fingers crossed DS won’t catch it!!

she’s just posted that her smallest DC has now caught it. DD goes pre school with him on Thursdays and I can be sure he will be there. Last time he had been vomittint, he was in the next day.

The mother is a stay at home Mum so it’s not like has to go to work either.

Just wanted to rant.

Yep, this makes me furious.

I would always keep my DC at home for at least 48 hours after last episode of V or D, longer if they were still feeling unwell / not eating properly.

The NHS website recommends this. Schools and parents should follow the recommendations, but they often don't due to attendance pressure.

If people stayed at home when they were ill there would be far less germs about and we would all need less time off work / school.
