8 week immunisations

So my little baby has got her 8 week immunisations in a couple to hours. I've got the calpol ready but any more tips or tricks so she's not in pain or uncomfortable? I'm absolutely dreading it, I'm bad with needles myself !!!!!

If you breastfeed, you could always ask if you could feed her whilst she is having the jabs (was offered for my DDs 12 week ones!) to help calm her down. Plan to do little else but cuddle with her on the sofa for the rest of the day though as my DD slept for ages after hers!

As hard as it is try to stay/act calm yourself. It's obviously not a nice experience but it is over pretty quickly. If you bf, boob solves everything!

Unfortunately I don't bf !! And she hasn't long had a feed so we won't be hungry enough for one by the time her appointment comes round. 😥

She will be fine! It’s horrible for you (I cried when DD1 got hers). Both my DDs cried for a few seconds but after some cuddles were fine. My biggest advice is make sure your DD has the follow on doses of Calpol. With DD2 I let her go 5 hours between the 1st and 2nd doses... she was inconsolable! It was horrific. She calmed down once the Calpol kicked in.

My DS calmed down really quickly after the initial shock of the injection. I agree with PP that it is worse for you than it is them at that age. Just keep on top of the Calpol and lots of cuddles.

It's worse for you than for them. I found it to be over really quickly.

SnowdropFox · 14/01/2019 16:21

How did it go?

LaurenSarah22 · 15/01/2019 10:11

Went loads better then expected. She's had one dose of calpol after the injections at 11.50. She slept all day didn't have a fever but I gave her one more dose before bed. Still no fever and doesn't seem to be uncomfortable.

Great news! The next ones are easier as they don't get the meningitis jab that gives them the temp.
