I think sometimes we find it easy to worry about the negative...what do you love about being a parent / your kids?

  • I love that DS is starting to give kisses and cuddles, it feels amazing! (Although the dog's not fussed on being kissed by him at the moment)
  • I love it when he's asleep- because he looks gorgeous (and he's sooooooo quiet!)
  • I love it when he reaches out for me
  • I love seeing him do a new thing, like sip from a cup, or use a spoon. Sounds mundane, but it makes me feel sort of proud (Despite the fact a monkey with minimal training could do it!)
  • I love seeing how happy he makes other people, like his Grandparents

OK- make us vomit ladies!

I love how DS pats me on the back and says "that's it mummy" when I cough

I love it when he gives me big sloppy kisses, rubs my arms and says "aah"

I love it when we've been apart for a few hours and he races up to me arms held wide for a hug

I love how his speech is getting better and better as he gets older

I love watching his face as he discovers something for the first time!

DS is 2, having a toddler is alot of fun! (sometimes)

I love it when ds1 comes to his own conclusions about why the world works the way it does - he thinks that hunger is an opportunity to be missed, not a state that will continue until changed - eg, he will say he is hungry, i tell him dinner is ready in 20 minutes, and he says "But I won't be hungry then, I am hungry now!"

I love to watch ds2 cuddling various items, and squeak "ahhhhh. Ahhhhhhh! Aaaaahhhhhh!" at them.

Smelling their hair while they feed or sleep. It's the most fantastic smell on earth.

That early morning smile that says "oh there you are, I've missed you"

I love babies me

I love having conversations with them, they are so amusing. When ds1 found out that babies come from their mummies' tummies he was aghast and said "mamma did you eat me?".

I love watching them sleep too.

i love it when dd2 (2yrs old) tells me im a "good girl mummy!" when i do a poo in the toilet

and my favourite thing (at the moment) is when i hear either dd1 or dd2 sneaking into the other dd's bedroom in the middle of the night and climbing in bed beside one another. i cant remember the last time i woke and they were in their own bed. im happy they are so close and get on so well so i just let them carry on with it

i love it when i cuddle ds and he rubs his face into my chest/shoulders.

i love the way he's so smiley first thing (even if it is 5am!)

i love the fact that he's forgiven me for letting him roll off the bed...

mintchips · 29/06/2007 21:01

I love watching all of them when they're asleep, and hearing dd1 giggle in her sleep in the middle of the night!

I love the way dd2 says orange "ojin"

I love the way ds plays peek-a-boo no matter what book he's looking at

Ilove watching them all grow and develop, I'm so proud of all of them

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 29/06/2007 21:03

I love it when Ds ( 4) calls me his princess

choosyfloosy · 29/06/2007 21:21

I love it when ds shouts 'I'M JUST GOING TO DO MY EXERCISE' and runs to the far end of the street at top speed (at least, I love it when he runs back again, which so far he always has).

I love it when I arrive at school and see him in the classroom waiting for me, and he just smiles all over his face.

I love it when he surprises me - he wrote a 2 all by himself a few days ago.

emmark13 · 29/06/2007 21:29

Definately that gorgeous baby smell.

I love the way dd1 is so loving towards dd2 (that was a shock).

I love it the way dd1 looks at me with her big doe eyes and when she puts her arms around my neck and kisses me on the lips.

I love it when dd2 sucks her thumb to put herself to sleep (so cute), and when she snuggles into my neck when she's just woken up.

aaah! Aren't we lucky.

bozza · 29/06/2007 21:36

checking on them before I go to bed and they are both so snuggled and comfy.

DS asking interesting and amusing questions (what were those hats that the Victorian ladies wore that look like shower caps mummy?)

DD deciding she has grown out of something but would like to give it to somebody (although slightly bittersweet really because she is my baby)

DS so loving reading and being read to and snugglig down in his bed together

Some of DD's little expressions and conversations are fabulous. She was arguing with her friend today, vying for who was having the best holiday "and we are going on a huge aeroplane that goes really fast" (she is 3.1 and has never even seen a plane close up)

When they play together really using their imaginations - this really is one of the best. Especially when it is a weekend morning and we are still in bed.

iliketrees · 29/06/2007 21:40

Love it when they sleep with me. DD wants complete body contact. DS wants his arms round my neck side by side - giggles in the morning when he catches me watching him. DS patting me on back as we cuddle as I used to do to him when a baby and he was windy. the way they love each other and leave me out of secret plans, hand each other food in the car and roll aound on the floor kissing each other.

OMG i am nearly in tears, this is such a lovely thread.

I love when my DS (nearly 2) gets excited when Daddy comes home then runs to grab the ball for him to play with.

I love when he explains something very earnestly and in his very own garbly language...to a cat.

I love when he recognises one of his little friends and get excited to see them.

Most of all i love when he says "marmy, eye luvf ooo"

aren't they just amazing.
