Clothing for August Newborn

Hello 👋🏻
I am due right at the beginning of August, but I am trying to get things organised early as we have a four year old and we are looking to move house 🤦🏻‍♀️
Anyway my daughter was a winter baby so she was wearing snuggly snow suits and layers, are summer newborns ok in just cotton vests or do they still need a couple of layers? Sorry for absolutely stupid question, it’s like I have completely forgotten all the basics!

My youngest was August and light cardigans were definitely useful. Just a slight breeze or a bit of cloud cover and you'll want something you can put on easily, then whip off again when the sun comes out. Congrats!

Honestly it depends so much on the weather we get. My DS was born at the start of August in a warm (not hot) year and mostly wore rompers - are they called that in the UK? - with nothing else needed during the day. If it’s cooler you might need a few layers.

My ds was born in August last year and as it is hot in our house he was fine mostly in vests to begin with.
If it wasn't boiling but still warm I would pair the vest with some shorts and socks depending on the heat. Used muslins as light blankets.

All depends though on the weather, some August's have been much chillier than last years

i would still get a few summer things not many though as by end of august it starts to cool.

On a hot summers day my daughter would wear a vest and a light dress. Basically you dress a baby how you would dress your self but with a vest.So for example warm weather vest ,shorts, short t shirt

Great thanks!!
Yeah last year was glorious, who knows what this summer will bring. We still have lots saved from my daughter, so shouldn’t need to buy loads of new stuff. Just annoyed at myself for throwing perfect prep machine away, I see they are £86 now! Shock

That advice re baby wearing 1 more layer than you is fine for keeping them warm but doesn't apply if the weather is very hot.

My baby was born April last year and spent the summer in rompers - one piece short sleeve and short leg things - or vest and shorts. I had a few light knitted cardigans and socks. Mothercare do big muslin blankets which are great for covering up but keeping cool.
