My 7 week old DD is full of a cold bless her and I just don’t know what to do to help her! She’s extremely snuffly and very nasely especially when lying down and she has s cough. Not had a great night! Any advice on how I can help her would be appreciated! Thanks

Saline drops in nose to help clear, and look for signs she's working too hard to breathe - also keep an eye on feeding and hydration. Any worries see gp who will almost certainly fit you in.

You can try raising the cot an inch or so on one end by popping a thick book under the end her head goes up so she isn't laying flat.

Nasal drops (saline) into her nose about 10 minutes before a feed sometimes helps. Nasal suckers never worked for us.

A vapouriser with just plain water (I don't think you can use additives at that age - check with your chemist on that), menthol can actually be dangerous for babies - vicks an similar products, from memory.

If you get really stuck a steamy shower can really help clear their noses.

Thanks random certainly no issues feeding as yet, if anything she was feeding more than usual yesterday and currently making light work of a bottle as we speak! Will see how we go this morning and ring the GP if I’m worried.

What stoppinby said about raising cot. Any suitable inhalations will help, It will soon be gone, bless her, If you or husband or both catch it, it will last longer for you adults and bother you more, I promise!

It's good that she is eating well, there's a lot in the old saying, 'feeding a cold and starving a fever,' though there is usually a bit of fever with a cold. Plenty of water will flush it out.

Soon be gone so don't worry. She is building up her immune system, bless. It's worse when they start nursery/school, just thought I'd cheer you up :-). You will be having colds more than ever before!

Having kids is nice though, isn't it?
