Does your 8 year old like school?

Just that really - 8 year old stepson back to school today after the Christmas Holidays and didn't want to go...
Is this normal ? I remember loving school at that age - loved seeing all my friends etc. He doesn't struggle at school, as far as teachers have said he has friends he's not left alone or anything.
His favourite thing to say now is 'I can't wait to go to work instead of go to school' - Have explained that work days are longer, no play time with friends etc etc.

Mine is still adjusting to the “work, work, work” style of juniors, and her classmates have said that they now find school boring and hard work. (She’s in a second language school so possibly more challenging than English-medium.). This year’s teacher does not seem to be a good fit with many in the class. She seems to confuse them by being very vague with instructions and harsh with punishments. I’m keeping an eye on that.

Otherwise she loves school, as she always has.

@PoutySprout
Maybe that's what it is- it's not infants any more and there's more emphasis on Work.
He's a bright kid and loves getting all his spellings right in the Friday test etc. Just always says he doesn't want to go.
