5 month old feeding

Hi All

My baby has just turned 5 months, and she is FF. she has about 7-8 ounces every 4 hours. I’m very lucky that she sleeps very well. She’ll usually go down about 9-8/9am.

She usually has 4 feeds as she wakes up late, for eg today she fed at 9,12,4 and 8pm

Now if the timings are such that her last feed falls at 8 i usually do a dream feed around 11pm but she never really finishes the bottle, probably only has about 4-5 ounces.

Basically my question is what time do you give your little one their last feed around this age? Do I need to bother with a dream feed or just let her sleep?

My ds is 4.5 months now and he has a last feed usually around 8/9pm and then usually doesn't want one until 8/9am. But every baby is different.
Give it a go and see whether they sleep through or wake up and you'll soon find out

Yeh I’m going to see how she does tonight with the last feed at 8pm.

Can i ask how many feeds your d.s has a day roughly?

I keep reading she should be having 5 feeds at this stage but unless i do middle of the night feeds this is not possible. Confused

If it’s working for you don’t listen to what the books say she should be having! Your baby hasn’t read the book remember! My little girl is 5 months - 5 months 2 weeks by her due date and has just started on solids over the last few days. She has 7oz bottles at 8/8.30am depending what time she wake, 12, 4pm and 7.30pm. She now has a small portion of porridge and fruit at around 11am and some tea normally carrot and potatoe or carrot and chicken purée at around 5.30. She has slept 8pm until 7.30/8am for the last few nights!

Think 8pm was a bit too early for her last feed, she didnt sleep as well and felt like she might have been a bit hungry but didnt wake up for a feed.

Thanks :)

It’s enough milk for 24h so she may well not need the dream feed! Try it without?
