Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine

DS is 7 months old and he has water from the tap with meals.

We use the Tommee Tippee Prep Machine for his bottles but as he is drinking tap water does it still need a filter? (The light has just come on to replace the filter.)

I am guessing but I would say yes - because the act of warming it up might breed more bacteria than is in just the plain tap water he is drinking? I would to be safe anyway - and I'm not overly paranoid about germs
