Potty training with cloth nappies

Hello ladies

My dd has been in cloth from day 1, and is now 22 months. I think she's about ready for potty training. She tells me when she's weeing and pooing, and has even managed to wee in the potty once during nappy-off time. The problem is that getting trousers, a wrap and a nappy off in time to get her on the potty when she tells me she needs to go is impossible! I don't really want to fork out for cloth training pants cos they're expensive and might only be used for a couple of weeks.

I have thought about just picking a nice warm week, rolling up the living room rug and letting her go nappy free all day in the hopes that we might potty train that way. My other option would be to buy eco-friendly disposable training pants.

Anyone got any tips on potty training a clothie baby?

i'd try nappy free at first, then you know exactly when she's doing a wee.

not that I can claim any credit for potty training my (cloth wearing) ds1, but this is what we did (all under orders from our childminder!). She picked a warm week (good luck with that one ) and just let him run around with pants and t-shirt on with a potty nearby - clean and dry within 2 weeks. She doesn't rate training pants of any sort, says they are confusing.

From my memory (it was over 2 years ago) she started saying about a week in advance that he was to ask for the potty/tell her he needed a wee/poo.

good luck!

Thanks ladies. Let's hope the sun comes out at some point!

That being said, I ordered 2 new nappies today so she's bound to potty train immediately now so that I won't get any use out of them until the next baby!!!
