Poor ds just went all night with a cloth nappy & NO WRAP!

I took dd3 to see her big sister in the school production of Fame last night. I left dh with very clear instructions on which nappy to put on ds for bed (set up the nappy & left it on the couch with the wrap).

Came home after 11 & ds is tucked up in bed in his sleeping bag, out cold. Dh says he was fine & went to bed at 7:30 as usual.

Dh lifted him downstairs this morning & I followed to find a pile of soaking wet sleeping bag, pjs & nappy but no wrap - turns out dh couldn't get it to fit over the nappy so left it off

DH needs some re-training me thinks - maybe if he has to do the dealing with all the wet stuff afterwards....

Mind you, my dp has this week alone put an airflow on backwards and inside out (it still worked of course). And stuffed ds2's night nappy with fleece liners. I gave him a lesson last night on the difference between a tiny thin liner and a big thick booster. Honestly.

this is why lazy people like me stick to pampers....sorry..

lol - DH did it the other way round.... The nappy fairy hadn't gotten round to putting the nappies together.

DH was left in charge...

DS spent the morning in a pocket nappy with no filling... and DH didn't notice him wet

SachaF · 28/06/2007 13:08

My mum put on last night's nappy - I had pre-stuffed it, laid it out on the wrap all the right way round - she didn't unfold the velcro tabs on the nappy and just used the wrap to put it in place like a pre-fold - she's used velcro before though!
I wouldn't expect dh to stuff a nappy, always pre-prepare them and lie the liner over it.
Dh has put a huggle on back to front, even though it was laid out in the right direction - he thought the pull out flap should be at the front with all nappies (kinda have to agree with him there...)
And both of us have nearly put the airflow wrap on backwards!

mumto3girls · 28/06/2007 13:13

what do you 'stuff' nappies with?

Flame · 28/06/2007 13:16

DH tends not to be left in charge of stuffing - but there were at least 10 other wrap needing nappies to use that day... surely you can feeeeeeeeeeel its empty??

SachaF · 28/06/2007 13:17

Boosters - some nappies you put the booster on the outside, some have space in them to stuff it in, this is for nappies that need boosting, I know nothing about pocket nappies!

SachaF · 28/06/2007 13:19

Ah but Flame, is that 'cos you have FAR too many nappies to choose from? Dh just uses pre-folds in day and leaves the others to me as he can cope with prefolds

Brangelina · 28/06/2007 13:20

My DP doesn't have a clue, even with the shaped aplix bamboozles which are so obvious it's untrue. I'm reduced to having to buy dispos if he's ever left in charge.

Flame · 28/06/2007 13:20

You can have too many nappies???

nearlythere · 28/06/2007 13:21

no flame you can't- don't believe a word of it!

mumto3girls · 28/06/2007 13:24

wow - I could NEBER use reusables cos this thread has my mind spinning with all the variables!!

Is there no reusable that you just put on then remove when wet and put another one on - without wrapping, folding, stuffing, velcroing etc etc?

Flame · 28/06/2007 13:26

Yes! - all in ones.

nearlythere · 28/06/2007 13:27

ah but they will have velcro or poppers otherwise you'd end uo very soggy and covered in.......................!

Flame · 28/06/2007 13:30

You find me a disposable with no velcro

mumto3girls · 28/06/2007 13:33

Okay so why do you lot not use all in ones> I'm guessing if the stuffing, folding and lining is worth doing then all in ones can't be that good?

nearlythere · 28/06/2007 13:35

AOI's are ont he whole- totally impractical, they take ages to dry and aren't that good in the first place! Give me a shaped nappy/wrap combo any day!

Flame · 28/06/2007 13:38

Yup - too long to dry, and not as reliable - a nappy and wrap can be made as absorbant as you want, opens out to dry, and the right combo is pretty much bomb proof.

Its the pocket nappies that throw DH (like an AIO but you put the absorbant bit in yourself - they dry faster, easy for babysitters etc).

claireybee · 29/06/2007 19:06

haha! I laid dd's nappy out inside the wrap for dh last night and asked him to bath her. He did but forgot to take the hair trap out of the plughole so all the water drained away- i went into bathroom to get something and dd was sat there in about 1cm of water, dh hadn't even noticed! then this morning when i took her nappy off he had put it on inside out so the fleece was on the outside and the bit next to her skin was sopping! on the plus side the fleece felt quite dry so if he had managed to forget the wrap it may not have been too serious!
