11mo DS has always been a grand sleeper. Generally goes 6.30-7ish straight through. Naps at 9am and 1.30-2pm for around 1.5 hours.

Suddenly he's started sleeping for 2-3 hours during his morning nap then refusing his afternoon nap (occasionally vice versa) Or he won't want a nap until 4pm at which point its too late. Along side this he's started waking up at around 4-5am and just screeches and shouts in his cot.

Do you think I should be waking him up if his morning nap goes over 1.5 hours in order to try and get him to 'save' some sleep for his afternoon nap? I think he might be waking early in the morning because he is dog tired by the time he gets to bed from skipping his afternoon nap.

It seems mean waking him up, but his evening meltdowns aren't much fun.

NB - He started crawling on Christmas day, so that could be a big factor - along with molars coming through (YES at 11 months Sad )

My 11 month little one used to sleep through from 6.30pm till 6.30am but then started waking from a few months ago in the night for a bottle.
Naps have always been a pain. Only just started getting him to properly nap in the morning, I’ve found the trick with him is to put him down 2 hours after waking. He will nap between 30 mins and 90 mins.
Afternoon naps are a big problem. They very rarely happen! The other day he tried falling asleep at 4pm but i kept him awake as I know he wouldn’t have slept at night otherwise.
Apparently there’s an 11 month sleep regression, hopefully our little ones will settle back down again soon!

Noooo. really?

Since posting this nighttime sleep has got a bit better again but he seems to want to drop his afternoon nap! Surely its the morning one he should be dropping?

That’s what I thought would happen too, he’d drop his morning but keep the afternoon but it doesn’t seem to be the case! Confused
