Whats it like having a 3rd child?

DH and me have often spoken about having a 3rd child although hadn’t decided for sure it was in the plans. Anyway we got a lovely surprise in November as I found out I was expecting our 3rd child. We have 2 darling boys who will be 7 and nearly 3 when baby arrives. However I am wondering what it’s like having 3 kids? Our lives have a lot of routine and structure already as DS1 has Asd and Adhd so needs it. DS2 is neurotypical and is very sociable so loves toddlers etc and we have good routines for him too.

How did people find going from 2 to 3? What made life easier? Or harder? I am really not sure how this will be. I coped well going from 1 child to 2 but I think having so many routines and boundaries established for DS1 helped us plus to be honest DS1 is quite a handful and DS2 seems easy in comparison. DS1 is delighted to be having another sibling as he had wanted one so I am not concerned about him adjusting particularly.

Exhausting, but we're an ADHD/ASD family too. I also have ADHD and struggle to maintain the routine, otherwise I think it would be fine. Odds are high you'll have another ADHD or ASD child, but if you are good at maintaining routine then I really don't think you'll find it any harder. My third baby was a breeze in comparison to meltdowns from the older ones, which they'd have had anyway! Baby just slots right in.
