Hi everyone,

I’m just looking to see if anyone has any home remedies that can help a 4 month old with a horrid cold.

She’s been sick with it for 2 weeks now, been docs twice, but nothing they can do to help and they’ve just said “virus - she’s young - ride it out”..

She’s got a stuffy nose, runny eyes and a cough. I have a nasal aspirator to suck the snot out and snuffle babes. Just at a loss as to how to help much more than just cuddles, snuffle babes stuff and calpol if needed :( seems a very long cold!?

I would add I took her docs for the second time yesterday as she was throwing up. Luckily that seems to have stopped (almost..)

It's horrible when they have colds.

Have you tried a Calpol plug in I found it works really well on my DS. You can also try raising the cot a little bit.

Oh bless you try some vapour stuff, some is suitable for babies.
The cold will not last long, I remember that from when I last had a baby, and it bothers parents more than kids. Obviously keep vigilant, if she has a persistent cough following the cold for example, which might be a mild chest infection needing medical intervention, but most colds go pretty soon. 'til the next one!

Wait 'til she starts school, small children have five to six colds a year, it's as if one ends and another one starts; mums catch them too, usually say they never had so many colds before they had children.

I wish you a healthy and happy new year (I have a cold btw, botheration, caught from husband - you're never safe from the cold virus!).

You do sound smashing btw.
