WHat do your 8 year olds do when friends come over?

My daughter is 8. At home she likes drawing and writing stories, she sometimes plays computer games with her brothers or things like making paper aeroplanes.
But she never really knows what to do when friends come over? She doesn’t have a lot of toys as she is more into craft, she has a tiny room so limited storage! She has a few hair adorable dolls, she and her friend have played with those this morning and then mainly played trying to sneak in to brothers room and annoy him Grin

I’m wondering if I need a few things on hand for when her friends come over? Some craft activities or toys in a cupboard?

What do your 8 years olds do? We recently moved house so can finally start inviting people over - we didn’t where we were before.

Should I be playing with them or leave them to it?

I'd say it'll be a mix of leaving them to it and supporting their play.

When my daughter had friends over at that age they played on the ps3 , watched YouTube and also enjoyed things like drawing and craft kits. I popped my head round the door to offer snacks but had to do little other than provide pizza and check on them.

Oh , and they also annoyed her brotherSmile

Thanks for the reply! I am socially awkward and don’t know many other mums, I want to facilitate my kids friendships. My sons just play computer games and build Lego!

Ours did dressing up usually, and organised plays, fashion shows and concerts for us.

Dance mat or Sing star on the PlayStation
Hair braiding
Friendship bracelets
Biscuit or cupcake decorating
Colouring whilst listening to music or watching Tv
Top trumps, UNO, mousetrap, Buckeroo etc...
Slime making
Before Christmas they made paper angels, snowflakes and paperchains
Playing with the long suffering hamster!

Honestly, I'm not entirely certain what my youngest does when her friends are over, apart from creating continuing loud thumping noises upstairs. 10yo likes board games and the Wii U, and they all seem to like playing Minecraft on their tablets

It's a long time ago, but my friends and I would take turns to dress up as a Flower Fairy and read out loud the appropriate verse from the books. My mother ignored us, as I ignored my own children and their friends apart from providing orange squash and biscuits.
