Breastfeeding issue

My LB is 5w 2d old and I'm EBF. I'm having issues tonight where he's hungry and I try to feed him and he keeps coming off and crying. I've tried both breasts and neither works... my breasts aren't engorged and he seems ok otherwise. Any advice please as he's not feeding and he's very distressed!

Could be wind? Or reflux? Sorry I know it's hard! I would try the baby in an upright position. Good luck.

Is he doing wet nappies?

Jellyggv · 29/12/2018 23:02

Yes he's been doing wet and full nappies. Poo is yellow in colour.

Temperature?

Poor little soul. It's so hard when they're so small. If he's still producing wet and dirty nappies then that's a good sign, watch his soft spot doesn't get too sunken (a little bit of a dip is quite normal).
He might just be having a bad night, or be coming down with a cold. If it gets to 24 hours of not really feeding don't be scared to call 111, they have midwives there than can talk to you (although they'll probably send you to out of hours, they seem to hear the age of the baby and just automatically make an appointment, which is no bad thing).
Hang in there, you're doing great Flowers

I had this with dd at about the same age, stresses me out no end. I’d eaten tons of onions without thinking and it had made my milk taste weird. Didn’t know this was a thing!

I expressed and gave her formula for the evening, then cut all foods out of my diet that can affect breastmilk. By 3 months I could eat anything and she was fine, I think it’s just when they’re teeny.

We’re still bf at 2 years old, so it didn’t cause any lasting issues.

FestiveNut · 30/12/2018 00:16

Try varying positions. Sometimes DD would only feed when I was standing up. Sometimes she preferred rugby to cradle. Today she refused until I was lying on my side with her next to me, feeding. Babies can be awkward sods!

Letsmove1t · 30/12/2018 00:17

He could be cluster feeding to get your supply up for a growth spurt my DTs did this & it was bewildering at the time, over 17 feeds each one day, the crying, whingeing, wriggling, grumbling, was looking for illness, couldn’t find anything wrong - next day fine, all settles & massive boobs! Hopefully this is dimilar( exhausting) for you, keep your fluids up and try to enjoy being the whole world to your little one
