7month old refusing bottle

Hi All, I wonder if anyone can help me?
My 7 month old DS has several teeth poking through and for the last few days has been completely refusing his bottles. He's still eating solids and drinking water fine but if I try to put a bottle near him he will just cry even when he's had calpol and I've tried to do it when he's had teething gel but still no joy.

I've tried using his sippy cup but when he realises it's milk instead of water he rejects it. I've tried an open plastic beaker which he normally loves for the novelty but he's not taking it this time. I've also tried bottles with a different teat.

Does anybody have any tips for getting him to drink his bottle? And also any ideas of foods I can make using formula to get some in that way please?

Thank you!

Heya, no solutions unfortunately but my 8 month old has refuses bottles from 5 months . He will only drink his morning one (4oz) and evening one (4oz) that's it. (300-350mls a day on average) ... In your case I expect that the sucking hurts his gums. For me he just doesn't like his cowsmilk free milk (rank tasting!) . I think porridge is a good food to mix milk in to. I also make my own baby purrees. I make them really stodgy so I can get as much formula in there as possible. Just give lots of cheese and yogurt for dairy. If he's drinking water then I'm sure he's hydrated. This has been Going on for 3 months with my son, he's happy, alert , and reaching mile stones and is also a little podge! So long as your baby is all of these things I'd try not to worry

How have you got on today? Was it any better?

@Nomoremonkeysforme thank you for your post, it's really reassuring! I didn't think about mixing milk in his purées so will keep that tip stored! Thankfully he did start taking some milk again yesterday but I'm sure we have more lovely teething days to come!

@JiltedJohnsJulie he's started to drink again now thank you. So relieved! He's also slept through for first time tonight, don't know why I'm awake and wasting it Smile

That’s good new Smile

If it’s his teeth, you could try him with a frozen banana and some chunks of cucumber to chew on Smile
