Newborn Constipated?

Hi all

Have newborn baby only 10 days old.

His last two nappies has only small amount of poo, its like size and shape of small grape.

Last night all was normal but today its just small qty and been 24hours
No breastfeeding as due to blood loss in birth having to use formula so using cow and gate

It's been fine since now just today its showing this

Sometimes formula can make babies constipated. You could try giving a little cooled boiled water or switching brands to one that's easier to digest?

Formula does not make babies constipated
Do not change the milk

A formula fed baby is fine to not have vowels open for several days as long as it's soft when they do go
You can give some cooled boiled water
Do some tummy massage
Leg cycling also good

Please don’t give a newborn baby cool boiled water. Nothing you’ve said suggests that your baby is constipated, but if you’re worried at all please contact your MWs.

Hi. Had the same with mine.. C&G caused constipation.. switched to Aptimil. No issues. X

It can do, especially if the baby switches from breast milk to formula. I agree that you should contact your midwife or health visitor. And congratulations

Sorry for late reply, it took 3-4 days before he done poo. We spoke to midwife and was told its normal so was just panic!

But he now regularly poos using same cow and gate formula so have not changed yet. but we now do cycling exercise as part of his post bath massage to make him feel good
