Toddlers books

Probably a stupid question, but hopefully easily solved!

My daughter is 2 and has a LOT of books (two teachers for parents....). She got quite a few more for Christmas. The problem I’m having is that toddlers books tend to be thin, very tall and not very strong. They are also lots of different sizes. How on earth do people keep them tidy? She has a little bookcase downstairs, but it doesn’t fit a lot of the tall ones. I keep those mostly on her chest of drawers between two very strong bookends, but they do tend to lean and fall all over the place.

How have other people solved this? Bookcases are mostly the right size for adult books. I don’t really want to spend a fortune if avoidable, but I thought other people must have had the same issue.

I lie them flat on the shelves and stack them

We have a little book kart which is handy for storing books like that - we have one from the Great Little Trading Co with wheels which DS also likes pulling his teddies round in. Let me see if I can find a link...

We have something similar to this: www.gltc.co.uk/collections/book-storage/products/book-storage-cart-rainbow-star

She has a lot more books than would fit into that I’m afraid Blush
It’s also particularly the large ones that are a problem as they are floppy, so they don’t fit in much.

DD has a sling book case. It's a length of plasticky fabric that loops over rods to make pouches that the books go in. She has about 30-35 board books in it and it's pretty full.

We put them all in a big toy box

I've got a kids book shelf it's like a trough

And I'm getting another tomorrow

There's about 100 books in the one I already have

(I should probably also admit to myself that I have a book buying problem!)

We have an ikea kallax, we put drawers for toys on the bottom and use the top sections without drawers for books. It fits even the tall ones!

We have two Ikea Billy bookcases. They fit standard toddler books fine, just put the shelves at the required height. I like the packs of 10 books for £10 from the book people & Costco, we have over 200 toddler books in our house and they're all in Billy bookcases. We have also kept some in an Ikea Kallax in the past.

Quite a lot of ours are from book people, I love the ten books for £10! Glad to hear I’m not the only bonkers one with hundreds of toddler books Grin I’m certain DD would be just as happy with far fewer books, but I find the monotony of repetition too much sometimes, I just have to read something different! We have Billy bookcases downstairs for our own books, I’ll see if they have a nice narrow one that would fit in her room. Thanks!
