Cot mattress

I'm going to be moving my 11 week old in his cot soon and the mattress I have from ikea is really hard. Does anyone have any tips for what is comfortable but safe? Memory foam for example? Thank you

I brought a dual mattress from mamas and papas, it's got a firm side for until they are 1 and then a spring side for after 1. We also have a waterproof protector which is actually quite padded for the mattress so it's firm but still fairly soft. I think it's recommended for the mattresses to be quite firm due to the sids risk but our one isn't too bad for DS.
