Starting to think about a bit of a weaning plan, FTM with an almost 5.5 month old and not sure where to start! What food/what to introduce first/how often etc. Trying to get prepared for when the time comes.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Baby led weaning is popular currently. There are some good support groups on Facebook such as baby led weaning uk. People share recipes / photos of food / ask questions / give advice. It's fab.

@sittingonacornflake I must admit I really like the sound of the baby led, but maybe doing a bit of a mixture of both. My baby loves to grab everything and put it in her mouth so I think it's probably fairly familiar in that respect and she can go as she fancies.
I think we're going to start with a bit of banana and carrot and see how she goes!
The mumset page listed above has really put my mind at ease, I think I was massively over thinking it all! Blush

If you stick your pinky in to the end of the banana it'll break itself in to three perfectly baby-sized banana sticks. It's literally the only weaning tip I have but I thought I'd share.

Have a look at this guide from the Caroline Walker Trust too as it gives portion sizes and even sample menus.

NHS Guidelines are here.

There’s some info on BLW here and if you’re after a book, try this one Smile

Oh and don’t forget to take lots and lots of photos Smile
