Transitioning to cot

In January our baby will be 12 weeks old and he needs to switch from his Moses basket to his cot as it is getting a bit too snug in there! The cot will be in our room. I'd also like him to start napping in the cot a bit more - not all the time as I love him napping on me too. He currently naps entirely on us, in the pram or car. Does anyone have any tips to help ease these transitions please? Thanks so much

Put the Moses basket in the cot for a bit.

Remember SIDS guidelines are that all sleeps need to be with an adult in the room until he is 6 months old.

Hmm we just changed for both our children, didn't seem to make a difference to either of them. I guess if he's unsettled swaddling might help him feel more snug and secure.

We just did it, no phasing in, he didn't even notice!

We just changed from one day to the next (also around the 12 week mark).

Is swaddling still ok in a cot? He still wakes himself up with his flappy arms otherwise! I will get him in a sleeping bag as soon as he grows out of those jerky arm movements

I believe it's fine until they can roll and then you need to stop. Somebody may correct me though.

Yes swaddling is fine until they can roll. In fact it is recommended as it helps make them feel more secure and helps with the arm reflex!

Moses basket in cot

My LO was in her own room at 8 weeks in the moses basket in the cot. Then she was out of moses baskrt around 12 weeks.

She stsrted napping upstairs during the day around 16 weeks

My lo is 12 weeks now and he has been in his cotbed got about 4 weeks. I stared by putting Moses basket in cot then into cot and a sleeping bag.

We just put her in and she settled straight away: she was waking herself up by throwing her arms up against the Moses basket so she slept better by having the space

I didn't supervise all sleep until six months- totally impractical. Do what works for you.

My baby went from my bed to cot around 11 weeks- didn't notice difference. We got a really comfy mattress (cleva mama memory foam) and he totally loves his cot now.
