Rain & waterproofs

You will probably think this is a really silly question lol but I wondered what do you dress your children in over their school uniform when it's raining. Ds starts school in Sept and it's a 20 min walk. Don't want him feeling uncomfortable in soggy clothes all day so wondered what waterproofs you put on, do you buy them all in ones/just a mac or a mac and waterproof trousers.
Dh thinks I'm being really anal (I probably am!) .

Umbrella? If you want the full waterproof getup, then Muddy Puddles Originals are unbeatable.

If you live in an urban area, it might be overkill, but if you live a rural area where water and mud is going to be a regular feature, then proper waterproofs are a great investment.

The teachers at dd's school wouldn't thank you for sending a child in wearing an all-in-one; they don't have the time to help the children in and out of their coats so it would have to be something he could manage to take off himself, and that he could put on quickly to go out at playtimes and to go home in.

Dd (in year 1) has a waterproof jacket (a hiking-type one) with a zip-in fleece liner for when it's cold, and if it's really wet she wears wellies and has an umbrellla as well. But even last year she wouldn't have entertained the idea of an all-in-one when all her friends were wearing macs and wellies.

sk either a teacher or a friendly parent at the same school what the other kids wear and get the same for yours (unless major difference such as you and your DCs are car free and all the other kids get driven to and from school)

we live in the country and dd turns up at school in waterproof trews and jacket, during the snow she took trousers into school with her but normally she takes them off in the playground and I take them home.

Thanks for that. Most of the mums will be driving their dc in so I didn't ask them. I didn't fancy an all in one either as I know that ds would struggle. I like the sound of the zip in fleece. I'll go and check out that website as well.
