My 4.5mth old has been a bit poorly (stuffy nose, mucous cough, fever) for the past week
He was only having 1 or 2 oz of his milk rather than 5oz he normally has.
Took him to the doctor to get him checked and all ok just ride it out.

For the last couple of days, he is sleeping most of the day, being awake for between 20mins and 1hr then sleeping for 1-2hrs.
He is having between 3 and 4 oz of his bottle now.
No fever
He is teething aswell

Is it normal for babies to sleep lots after they have been poorly? Is it a sign that he is getting better?

I think if he's drinking then it's okay. At that age, even when well, DD wouldn't have been able to stay awake for more than about 2 hours so if he's poorly, going down again after an hour or so doesn't seem unreasonable. My only concern would be if it goes on for too long. So I'd say 3 or 4 days after which I'd start to want him to be checked by the doctor again.
