All my cloth nappies are leaking... where am I going wrong?

I’m using mainly tots bots easy fit stars during the day although I have one bumgenius freetime and one bumgenius elemental. I’m having the same problem with all of the nappies so I don’t think it’s the brand that’s at fault.

At night I’m using tots bots bamboozles with the two peanut boosters and the peanut wrap.

I’m using fleece liners.

I find that every daytime nappy leaks within a couple of hours and leaks out of the legs. Is this normal that I should have to change the nappy every 2 hours or so?

The bamboozles are leaking at night despite padding them with both the peanut boosters. Do I just have a very heavy wetter or am I doing something wrong? He has 7 oz of milk at 7 and sleeps for 12 hours and wakes up very wet!

My only hunch was that maybe he’s got to an age now where he only wees with a full bladder so it all comes out at once perhaps quicker than the nappy can absorb it.

He is 16 months old now and I’m finding myself wanting to turn to disposables which is such shame.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I had this issue and it was a combination of me not fitting them right as DD changed shape (9 months, started using bamboozles at 8 wks), and needing to move up a size in wrap so the webbing wasn't wicking moisture from the nappy. Putting the extra boosters between the nappy and the wrap helped the fit and tumble drying them on low just to soften them as they'd gone crispy from the hard water. I switched to using a Disana wool wrap at night and wish i'd bought one months ago. I did email the nappy lady and got some great advice as there can be so many things to tweak! Good luck!

I always had to mess round to get the fit around the leg snug, it was always where ours leaked too. I think my daughter was about the age of your son when I changed to disposables, maybe a little older. They were leaking more often than not at that age. It is a shame as the reusable nappies are also supposed to help potty train them more quickly.

Just another thought, is he more active now? Could be the movement of toddling and crawling round loosens the legs and allows it to leak.
