Best trainers for narrow feet 5 year old

Hello all,

Have a 5yr old DS. Had feet width between and F and E. Am struggling to find him good supportive trainers. I’m quite weird about feet and is one area I don’t mind spending for to get the quality and support. He’s worn lovely next trainers in the past as noticed his feet slant inwards. Since wearing more supportive shoes that’s stopped. Tried Geox (too wide) same for Skechers. Tried Clark’s.... they only had fabric style ones and wanted leather so that he can wear during the cold and wet weather too. I sound fussy but have another child with club foot so think feet are “my thing” 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

My DS was a D width at that age. He also has no arch in his foot (totally flat footed due to hypermobility) so his feet were (still are) not only skinny but also very shallow. The only actual trainers we managed to get him into when he was small were pumas. Even now at 14 with custom-made prescribed insoles (which help create an arch for his foot) it’s a total battle to find anything that fits him. Everything is so wide and clunky on his feet!

DS (10) has very narrow feet, and has had 4 pairs of these - leather in the winter, canvas in the summer Mini Boden hi tops. They come up a bit big,

Try Superfit, we buy them from an independent local shoe shop but you can buy online too. They are the only brand to fit the narrow (and shallow) feet of my 3 girls. I’m not sure whether they have leather, but they do have waterproof goretex as an option on some of the shoes.

Leather trainers will always be too wide. I have narrow feet and found it impossible to buy leather hiking boots / trainers / shoes for this very reason. The best you can so is get fabric trainers that are coated with Weatherite or another type of waterproof coating. Laces with a criss cross pattern are also better as they tighten everything further. For me Asics are the best — not sure if they do kids trainers tho.

Nike Mercurials are very narrow, pretty much the only trainers my DS (C-D width feet) has worn for years now.
