@BlueMoon33 "breastfeeding in the early weeks takes the baby a long time"
This isn't always true, my baby only ever fed for 10mins every 3-4hrs. It wasn't until she had a bottle of expressed thag we realosed how efficient a feeder she was and would drink 5oz in 3 mins

Al of mine had a bottle of formula for their first feed - which DH gave them, then I bf only for 5 weeks before introducing a bottle of formula before bed at night, which DH gave them again.

I'm managed 16 weeks with all of them, I could have gone on longer, but I get aural migraines with bfing and had mastitis with all three too. I don't think I would have persevered longer than 5/6 weeks had I not introduced a bottle.

Wait and see OP though when you have your baby, some mother/babies find breastfeeding easier than others.

@Lazypuppy Cor that would have been amazing if my baby did that!

I do breast and bottle (bottle is expressed milk). I ignored advice and started a bottle on day 3! DD (nearly 5 months) transitioned, and continues to transition, really well between both. However, I was lucky in that DD latched well from the start. I doubt I'd have introduced a bottle so soon if she'd had issues latching.

I mix fed my DS until he was 4 months then he lost interest in bf. Once he stopped latching I couldn't express as much as I did so I decided to stop and go with formula after that. But he did well mix feeding for all that time. Was happy with breast and bottle. I did use nipple shields sometimes as he had issues with his latch.

19 months and still going :)

I introduced bottles of formula about 3 months and used to pump to keep my supply up, but eventually I stopped pumping and now at 19 months my son still has 2-3 breast feeds a day and 2 bottles of formula.

Combi feeding is what’s allowed me to carry on feeding so long and can be very successful.

I would stick with sole breast feeding as long as you can because washing/sterilising/making bottles is a complete pain in the bum!
