Anyone use a GPS tracker?

DS (8) has started taking the school bus on his own and I've been considering giving him a GPS device, preferably with a feature to make an emergency call. I've been looking at GPS watches as they seem to do this - has anyone here used a GPS watch (available in the UK) with reliable tracking?

All of DS's friends seem to use a phone, but aren't they too young to be given one? Any recommendations for basic phones with GPS also welcome!

Moochie watch?

Yes, DD has one which she wears when she walks home from school by herself. I got it from Amazon for about £30.

Sneaky tip: I can dial into it without her knowing and listen in Grin

Why not a phone? I know you think that’s too young - I think 8 is too young to travel to school alone.

@gamerchick I looked into Moochies but don’t like that they tie you into a pay monthly plan. Becomes quiet expensive then!

Watchovers - by and far the best. Their support is great too. You can freeze the subscription and restart at any time. I will do this when we go on holidays next year. A small price to pay for peace of mind and much much less worry.

DS (older but with HFA) has a Moto phone with Life 360 which is OK but does sometimes lose contact.

@crookedme Well I hope you don't indulge in your sneaky tip. That's an invasion of her privacy and pretty creepy. Ever watched that episode of black mirror?
