5 week old baby reflux or gas??

I have my 5 week old baby and for the last week, he seems to be very uncomfortable and I'm not sure if it could be gas or reflux??
Throughout the day he is able to sleep on me or in his chair, but at night he is unable to sleep past 3am in his Moses basket, as soon as he is on his back he is grunting and squirming and this wakes him up. He is still tired as once he is in his chair or on me he goes straight back to sleep, still squirming but less. We have raised the mattress and keep him up right after feeds but this doesn't seem to help? Currently he is formula fed in cow and gate, and advice would be great! Xx

My 5 week old was very similar and has just been diagnosed with reflux. We thought it was wind at first. Have you noticed he makes a face like he’s tasted something nasty at all? Mine would also push his bottle away and look in pain whilst feeding but was still obviously hungry. Hope you get some answers

From what you've said it sounds like it might be reflux.

My DD was quite bad from about 6/7 weeks, although we thought it was colic at first. After trying infant Gaviscon and Ranitidine that the doctor prescribed, we decided to try different bottles and formula as she was still bad. The biggest improvement came from switching from TT to MAM bottles and going onto SMA Anti reflux milk.

But if you're worried, book him into see the doctor.

I absolutely feel your pain though, dealing reflux is bloody tough going. Thanks

I had this with DS2, he was prescribed gaviscon by the doctor. It made him keep his bottles down a bit better, but would still be in pain.

The thing that worked best for me, is a bath! Then after his bath give him a massage..Google baby massage for trapped wind. It helped to get stubborn wind out. Just make sure you do it 20 minutes after a feed.
It's life changing honesty!!
