Oooh, DS2 appears to be toilet training himself ...

After lots of passing conversations about how big boys go in the pot, last night before bed, he demanded the pot, and had a pee. (And then demanded pants!)

This morning, first thing, he demanded the pot, and had a poo. Then had another poo in his pants while I was cleaning the pot, but still. And he's had a couple of pees in the pot, too. (And he's been so distracted by all this, he hasn't breastfed at all this morning, which is another first! )

One problem, though, he's got very runny poo (otherwise healthy and well), so I'm giving Yakult to try to settle him a bit. He has toddler diarrhea, normally, anyway, but it's been bad lately.

Well done you and ds!

Hmmm, the Yakult might have worked, no more poo since this morning.

But we've had a poo accident this morning, and two wee accidents. I am a bit about the whole thing. But we'll carry on I guess, as that's what DS2 wants to do.

One problem, though, he doesn't seem to be bothered at all about having wet himself. Granted, it's raining out, everything's wet anyway ... I know I'm not meant to make a fuss about accidents, so as not to discourage or upset him, but what do I do if he basically refuses to acknowlege he's wet himself, never mind getting bothered about it?

Well, he gave up, and chose to wear a nappy. More Yakult this morning, and no peeing or pooing on the pot. I think we'll wait until he shows interest again.

Part of the problem was, he didn't seem at all bothered when he'd wet himself, and didn't even really seem to acknowledge he'd done it.

My DS2 just decided to use the potty one day off his own back and has been dry ever since. He was 3 and to be honest I was being pretty lazy about potty training, not leaving his nappy off etc.. but he obviously just decided when he was ready and I've never had to clear up accidents 99% of the time he's dry at night too - he's a stubborn bugger so It's best to let him do things at his own pace!
Sounds like he's ready - shame about the runny tummy.

Well, I think the accidents weren't just down to the runny tummy - he had two wee accidents, too. I think he's not entirely ready, but maybe getting close. I'll have a chat with the nursery manager about how to proceed with him, I think ...
