posted on here earlier in the week when I received great advice about toilet training. Anyway, DD2 is using potty great from day 1.... but only when naked. She has not grasped that when she's got clothes and knickers on, that she's meant to still use the potty. She just wees and poos in her knickers. Obviously its early days yet (with the toilet training) but not sure what to do. Do I get her trained when naked and hope she'll just make the transition when she's clothed or do I go through the dirty clothes to try and toilet train her properly?

How about dress or skirt, but no knickers to start with?

where is everyone else with their pearls of wisdom?

dd2 did this for a while, and while she now knows that she has to use a potty or a toilet even when she has clothes on, she prefers to take them all off.

She did just seem to "get it" in time.

My ds went through this too, we got over it by me getting pg! Literally let him run aroundnaked for 3 months while I lay about feeling sick! Then when I went back and tried underwear again it worked fine! Started with just pants to negotiate then moved up to trousers when he had got the hang of it. Good luck with it!

I wouldn't mind but for some reason DD2 always goes the long way around things. Nothing is straightforward with her. I overcome one problem and just when everything's rosy (just like her name-rosie, something else crops up). Just wish she'd get herself on an even keel for a change.

I hope it takes less than 3 months cos we're going abroad in 3.5 weeks (which is why i'd planned to wait till September to toilet train).

Hi I know Ive put this up before but it always seems to work for me.

POTTY TRAINING

Day 1 - 3 no clothes, ask if they want the potty, at least every 1/2 hour. Expect lots of accidents.

Day 4-7 Providing child is now making it to the potty, pants on, still reminding, first couple of days will result in wet pants, but by day 7, usually making it to the potty.

Day 7 onwards trousers on as well, still asking often, take potty EVERYWHERE with you.

If this doesn't work, would say the child isn't ready. Have done it with children from 20 months - 4 years, they are ready when they are ready, boys in general are later than girls, but saying that just had a boy dry at 22 months and a girl not till almost 4. !

I'm a CM by the way

Shall try this. We're on day 3 now. Day 1 was great, no accidents whatsoever, just went for it, like she'd done it for weeks.. until the trousers went on on day 2 and 3. Maybe shall start over and leave her naked for 3 days unless we're going out (which we inevitably will be). Will not resort to pull ups though. IMO they will defeat the object.

I am in a similar situation as I have started potty training DD2 this week, she has done well the last couple of days with either nothing on or just pants on(as she can take them off herself) but she has pooed in her pants, but I am wondering if it was because she had leggings on(thanks to the trend at the mo) and felt too secure? If that makes sense. I am planning to carry on with either nothing on or just pants when we are at home for a while yet!
