I think my 1 year old is ready to be toilet trained

He is dry when he wakes up in the morning. Lots of breastmilk before falling asleep though.

As soon as he gets in the shower with me, he has a huge wee!

We've used pull ups from about 9/10 months, purely because he kept running off.

Now if I take the pull up off to 'get some air to him', he will not wee until it's back on and has cried with it being off before. I wondered why. Then I put it back on and he had a massive shite Blush

Could he be ready for toilet training early, do you think?

He's been bone dry every morning for quite some time now and seems to get the feeling of 'different' when the nappy is off

He's not ready if he's crying for his nappy on so he can do a poo.

He's too small really, he might understand that it's different when his nappy is on or off but that won't translate to being reliably trainable.

There's absolutely no point in starting so early that you have tonnes of accidents. Better to wait until the child can speak reliably and understand the questions you will ask...I waited till mine could say "I need a wee" before actually doing it. Mine were 2 and a half...both of them.

Is he 12 months or 23 months? It makes a big difference.

Is he just 1, nearly 2... it makes a difference. My DD2 was fully trained at 20 months. She was completely ready and was completely dry in 2 days, and dry at night within a couple of weeks. I recommend reading Oh Crap! Potty Training.

Yes he could be. Look up elimination communication.
I did this with my DD. She was doing a wee on the loo each morning from 6 months old. Go for it!

Oh and she was talking in full sentences by then so we had no communication issues. I think that helps. DD1 wasn’t ready until about 2.5.
