Leap 3 help :(

I’ve been posting a lot on here as I am a FTM and it’s nice to have varied opinions.

My baby is 10 1/2 weeks but he was overdue a week so he’s actually 11 1/2 weeks according to wonder weeks so started leap 3.

Since this afternoon he’s gone off his bottles and has hardly drink anything, lots of diarrhoea and just keeps squealing (crying but it’s just whiny noise) and just wants to be held.

He keeps startling and jerking too which makes him cry. What is that?

He had conjunctivitis about two days so I took him to the doctors who prescribed him some drops and he checked over him and said he’s okay. Could the antibiotic caused this? Or is it a leap?

Doctor also said I could give him some calpol if he’s unsettled as his throat is a bit red but I don’t want to give calpol for the sake of it considering he’s got no temperature.

Wonder weeks app says I’ve got 7 days to go.

I cried for the first time in a long time. I’m so tired :(. My family have been round and helping but I still feel like I can’t do this because I am so tired.

My husband did the night shift last night but I couldn’t sleep and kept waking up.

How do I cope with this leap? (If it is that?!)

Also I’m worried he’s hardly drank anything today!

Also he’s been asleep since 2pm on and off and just won’t open his eyes and if he does, he’s whiny and just wants to sleep.

Honestly that app is a pile of crap. Baby sounds like he might be coming down with a cold or similar, have you taken his temp? Lots of cuddles and keep offering milk, make sure he is having his usual wet nappies.

I’d call 111 in this scenario as there are a few worrying signs that individually probably wouldn’t make me feel worried. I can feel the worry in your post though so call them: you might get an OOH doctor or some advice to help ease your mind overnight.

Wenttoseainasieve · 30/11/2018 22:50

I never followed the leaps with my two, but I doubt diarrhoea would be linked. He probably has a bug, or it could be the antibiotics I suppose. Keep an eye on his urine output, and an eye out for other signs of dehydration.

The only way to get through illness or clingy developmental stages is to ride them out. Remind yourself it is totally temporary!

Wenttoseainasieve · 30/11/2018 22:52

After reading your update I'd be inclined to call 111 or out of hours directly if that's available in your area.

Onceicaughtafish · 30/11/2018 22:52

That sounds like he is poorly poor thing, nothing to do with leaps. Keep a close eye on him as if he has loose stools and isn't drinking he could get dehydrated and get very sick fast.

IncomingCannonFire · 30/11/2018 22:55

Delete the wonder weeks app. It's a load of bollocks. sounds like he's just feeling a bit poorly. You could probably so with a break and a rest. Can you gat a relative to pop round and hold the baby for an hour or so?

Thesearmsofmine · 30/11/2018 22:57

Ok I saw your last post if asleep since 2pm and you can’t wake him you need to call 111

chargedproton · 30/11/2018 23:03

No he’s wakes up but just cries and wants to sleep. He hasn’t got a temperature. It’s 36.8. He’s drinking 3/4oz out of 6 that he normally drinks. Shall I still call 911?

OP are you in the UK or was 911 a typo? If you are in the UK I would definitely ring 111 for advice as it sounds like he is on the cusp of taking less than half his feeds? Which is a flag for them. Most likely he is coming down with something but best to be safe at such a young age. Let us know.

chargedproton · 30/11/2018 23:27

Sorry yes 911 was a type. I have rang 111.
I stupidly have given him calpol a bit ago in case he does have a sore throat.

Being a mum is so hard :(

He’s just vomited everywhere :(

But he’s wide awake now and smiling. 111 are going to call me back.

I’ve just checked his temperature and it’s 36.5

Hope he is feeling better, what did 111 say OP?

Young babies can be ill without a fever, and fevers in babies younger than 3 months should always be checked out.

chargedproton · 01/12/2018 09:54

I went to the out of hours this morning as 111 made an appointment.

They think he’s got a virus, he’s much better today but still not 100%. They didn’t give me anything.

They said to keep an eye on his nappiess and make sure he feeds, even if it is a little. But it’s a good thing as it builds his immune system.

Poor fella, he usually swings at the teat with his mouth and now he’s just not interested.

Hope he gets better, didn’t sleep last night worried sick.
