What was wrong with my baby?

Hello all, I just need a insight.

My baby has just finally gone to sleep. He is 11 weeks old.

This has never happened before but from 10pm until now he was crying hysterically when I put him down. He’d fall asleep and then wake up. He was fine when I held him but as soon as I put him down he cried hysterically. Then he did a poo and I changed his nappy and he seemed to have calmed down and now has finally fallen asleep.

He’s a good sleeper and napped normally. I thought he was more hungry than usual but he wouldn’t take any milk and just screamed.

This afternoon, I tried a MAM size 2 for the the first time because I thought he was drinking abit slow but he screamed and cried whilst drinking it as I think he thought it was too fast and hasn’t been himself all day. He hardly slept.

Would this have caused his crying for tonight? Did he take in too much air with the size 2 teat?

He had his vaccinations last Friday but he cried with them and got over it after two days so I don’t think that’s related.

I put infacol in his bottle but he’s very farty but never showed much sign of reflux.

Any ideas what was wrong with him?

It could be a silent reflux or maybe a dairy allergy?

It sounds to me like he took on more wind with the faster test and that has made him uncomfortable colic/trapped wind is painful and with the poo he has shifted it. I would go back to your old teats for a bit longer and hopefully that will sort it out.

Could it be constipation/wind/upset stomach?

I’ve just realised. I gave infacol for the first time before his final bottle. Could this have caused it?

He’s waking up screaming every now and again like he’s in pain. Farting then falling asleep. Poor guy :(

Sounds like wind. He might have gulped in more air with the size 2.

Infacol upset both my kids. I think it's meant to make the gas bubbles big enough to burp, but it just seemed to cause more pain for my kids.

Could also be a wonder week? There's more than not at that age. Confused

chargedproton · 29/11/2018 02:10

I can’t sleep. He keeps waking up in pain and when I cycle his legs, he gets relief and falls asleep.

Never ever happened before so I think it may be the infacol.

It could be wind but it could also he the start of the 12th week development spurt, which begins now.

DD3 is also 11 weeks and is usually a happy little thing. Today she has been Not Happy. Dropping off and waking every half hour for a cry. And I mean a proper red in the race wail. She finally went to sleep at midnight and woke about 20 mins ago again, fed and went back to sleep.

Have you got a copy of The Wonder Weeks? I had it with first two DDs and every time they had an episode like this, I'd check the book - and yep, they'd be having a growth spurt.

thisonebreath · 29/11/2018 02:55

That would be a red in the face wail...

We had the same results from infacol. Ghastly stuff!

sophiec123 · 29/11/2018 03:47

Sounds like colic/trapped wind. I used infacol on my daughter and it seemed to do more bad than good. I'd stop the infacol and see what happens.. are your mam bottles anti colic? I found Tommee Tippee anti colic bottles were really the only thing that helped

I can't even imagine how he's feeling right now with that air inside. Anyways as long as he keeps on farting it will release all.
