Prematurity effects - still ongoing?

Hi all, I’m wondering if there are any parents out there of children who were diagnosed with chronic lung disease as babies? My twins were born at 27 weeks and diagnosed with CLD after a long stint in hospital. Did really well, and are now 10 years old. But one gets repeated really bad coughs, and also seems more prone to illness in general. Since September he’s had impetigo twice, a cough, tonsillitis and now is suffering from another bad cough. Does anyone else have experience of this diagnosis and how long it lasts for? His brother doesn’t suffer anything like, and they’re identical and had near identical hospital experiences. I’m guessing we’re going to need to get him checked out but mentally it feels quite difficult to need to go back to the children’s ward. TIA!

So sorry your DT isn’t well. I have no experience of preterm babies, you might get a few more replies if you post in the Preterm section.

I’m just wondering though if he’s anaemic as this can lower immunity.
