At a bit of a loss....

don't know what to do really. DD1 was toilet trained at 2.2 and cracked it instantly. DD2 is 2.4 and thought she was ready about 3mths ago cos wouldn't wear a nappy. Unsuccessful. Thought we'd wait til Sept when DD goes to school and we'd have no interruptions but she's now not wanting to wear a nappy, nor knickers but wants to sit on the toilet... all the time, if I let her she'd sit there on and off for about an hour. Problem is I can't let her play getting up and down on the toilet and its hard for me to encourage her cos she tries to climb all over the toilet, wants to wipe her bits with excessive amounts of tissue, wants to flush the toilet too many times. I'm finding this so frustrating. I'm calm when she's in there but find I need to get her out of the bathroom before she wrecks it. We have to lock it from the outside otherwise if she gets in she brushes her teeth with copious amounts of toothpaste, wets her hair and puts shampoo in it and its really tiresome. Does anyone think she's ready, are there anyways to just get her in, try the toilet and get her out again? Sorry this is longer than anticipated.

lock the bathroom door and give her a potty in it's own place, that she can sit on as long as she likes and get on and off herself. leave her knickerless, so she doesn't need any help. No paper or toys anywhere near! She'll soon get bored, and then you'll know if she's ready or not - either she'll perform or she won't!

Don't put pressure on yourself, lots of children aren't potty trained until 3, take a step back if you think it's too stressy and try again in a couple of weeks. If she's really ready, you'll soon know.

I'll see how she acts over the next couple of days and make a move. Don't really want her trained cos on hols in 4 weeks and we tend to go out walking a lot. Don't want to have to worry about constant toilet trips. Thanks for your advice. Welcome any others though
