Three boys!

Anyone out there that can give me some views/advice on having 3 boys? I've just had my third (yesterday) and, probably down to hormones, having a wobble about realising I won't ever have a daughter.

I was never bothered about the sex of my babies and I'm over the moon about the arrival of my third son - love him to pieces already - but started to think about lack of pink shopping, mother of bride, mother of pregnant daughter etc experiences.

I'm just in need of some moral support! Anyone?

I'll be having my third in December. Not bothered although I'm booking the speech therapist at birth.

Rather relieved to avoid the whole pink thing myself, and mother of the bride wouldn't necessarily happen anyway! You will get to be a hellish MIL maybe

Congratulations!! Just remember boys always love their Mummys...even when they are married!! My friend has 3 sons and had similar worries....but she doesn't mind now as her middle son loves shopping with a passion!! So while his brother's do football with Dad, Jack does retail therapy with Mum!! Enjoy and have fun!

And just think, u will never have the worry of a teenage daughter coming home pregnant or wanting 2 wear tarty clothes at the age of around 10!
I have 2 boys (not having any more kids) & am very happy that they are boys, as both my sister & I put my poor Mother through Hell when we were teenagers!

Boys are lovely (so are girls too of course). My ds is much more affectionate than his sisters. And just think, you'll never have to experience the hell that is Barbie - believe me long nylon hair clogs up the hoover something awful - or have to 'do' your son's hair - short hair is much, much easier. And you might have lovely daughters-in-law.
Look on the bright side.

boys are delightful (so are girls) - I have one boy a girl and twin boys, they are all mummys little boys ( hopefully forever).

when i was expecting the twins i not only had rude comments from strangers about the size of my bump, when the twins were born family & freinds often said 'oh it would have been lovely if you had a boy girl'twins - it really annoys me.

Boys are easier to dress, mine are very lively, & loud, easy going, but my DD is the boss, I know DH and I will worry about her more as she grows ( especially male preditors)

Only got two boys, but read the thread about boy gangs, which links to a newspaper article which may help. Know how you feel, but honestly read this article it might just help, it comes out with all the good stuff about having boys. Anyhow congrats on your new arrival

skate, apologies, wouldn't be so bad but I was the next poster after you.

we have 3 boys - 1 3 and twins 19 months old. I am quite relieved not to have girls now (wouldn't have minded at the time) - I am really grateful not to be bombarded with girly things - can't stand pink or lilac ! And hopefully the teenage years might be easier . I really don't think I could have coped with a girly girl !

I've got 3 boys too(5yrs,3ys and 11months) and I have to admit the only reason I wanted to get get PG with no3 was to have a girl. It HONESTLY didn't cross my mind that no3 could be a boy until I was actually PG, really I just thought I get a girl.

Anyway Ds3 is the most adorable and beautiful baby EVER, in the history of mankind and his big brothers love him more than I could ever imagine. When he was born DS1 told me that he loves him more than all of us (me, dh and ds2) and he'll only love us all the same when DS3 is big. Bless him

I sometimes can't believe I've got 3 such lovely, DS1+2 fight all the time BUT it's because the live in each others pockets and refuse to play alone so if one is out with DH the other always mopes around until the other returns. Ds3 watched their every move so I expect I'll have all 3 doing that soon.

Enjoy them, congratulations and welomes to the 3 boys gang!

ernest · 31/08/2004 16:07

but how do you keep the noise level manageable??

Northerner · 31/08/2004 16:39

Well as the mother of 1 ds I take my hat off to anyone who has 2 boys let alone 3.

But deep down I would LOVE 3 boys!
