Toddler Cries When new Baby Cries

Feeling Desperate: Just had a new baby and my 2.5 year old son is terrified of her.

He won't come within 10 feet of her because he is afraid she will cry.

Anytime she cries, he starts sobbing and has taken to hiding in his room for large portions of the day.

Has anyone experienced this? What did you do and did it get better? I'm feeling heartbroken.

Aww that's so sad.. I don't have any advice but I'm interested to see what people say as my DD will be 2 years 3 months when baby is born..
I'm sure it's an adjustment phase 💗

Aww the poor little pet that’s so sad. Could the baby give him treats or a toy maybe that might soften him to her? Show him lots of baby pics and talk to him when he was little like baby sister. That she cries for cuddles or for her dinner, but that she is ok

It did get better, but it felt like my head would explode with them both crying. If baby cried, I directed toddler to cuddle him and now that's what he does if he cries. Toddler feels all helpful and it distracts baby nicely.
