Was the question my ds7 called out while washing his hands for dinner. I was trying to dish up dinner and nearly fell over when I heard him. Not sure I heard him right I asked him what he said.. What is a Lesbian mummy? At this point I couldnt help but burst out laughing.. completel fit of giggles which I said was because dp had told me a joke. I did then ask him why he was asking. Apparantly a child at school said a boy was a lesbian (more laughter). I then explained as best as could saying that usually a lady loves a man and they get married and have a family. Sometimes tho a lady loves a lady in a grown up way and they want to get married. Ds then sad are men who love each otehr gays then? I said men who love men and women who love women in that grown up way are gay. He seemed to accept this.

Just totally didnt expect that question while dishing up dinner. Totally threw me and I found it very funny .. bless them

A girl I used to look after asked her mum this same question when she was about 4. her mother explained as you have and also said "our friend X is a lesbian, you know, the woman we met for lunch last week".

The dd looked really puzzled and after a while said "She didn't LOOK like a lesbian."

"Why, what on earth do you think lesbians look like?"

"Well, blue, or green faces."

It turned out she was thinking of Martians

Franny, if you're still here.....

Need to discuss your hand in glove analogy for death some time....

I explained it all to dd, about the life force thingy inside and the shell type thingy outside ending with the glove falling away,........... and she said, 'oh, like a snake or a spider sheds it's skin, ?'

My single parent friend once answered that question with 'well its two ladies who love each other'. A few weeks later they were snuggled up on the sofa, the child said 'we are lesbians, aren't we mummy, cos we love each other'.

MorningtonCrescent · 20/06/2007 23:20

lol flibberty!

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 08:42

Oh Oggs that was twiglett's story, I can't take credit for it

I think it works very well if you do believe in the spirit continuing after death

I don't really, not in the way that the glove analogy has it, so I have to just muddle through with questions about being in the ground and feeding the daisies and worms

ggglimpopo · 21/06/2007 08:45

Whose child got lesbian as a star sign - as in "Am I pisces or taurus or lesbian, mummy?"

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 08:47

Search twiglett glove and soul or spirit

you'll find it

oggsfrog · 21/06/2007 09:01

I can't find Twiglett's glove analogy anywhere , must have been in chat and disappeared now.

Give Twiglett a shout - she explained it much better than I could

ggglimpopo · 21/06/2007 09:03

No, I couldnt find it. She is never on msn when you need her! In fact the woman is never on msn!

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 09:04

oh I will find it

or Twig will turn up

she probably had a silly name when she posted it

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 09:06

MamaMaiasaura · 21/06/2007 09:21

But that theory can lead to problems - dd interpreted it as we shed our skin like a snake/spider and carry on as before with our 'new' skin

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 12:11

your dd is just too smart oggs
