I'm started to get extremely frustrated as my toddler will not listen to me AT ALL. I don't expect him to respond all the time but he still doesn't follow simple instructions like 'Come Here' or 'Give me the ball' ever. He doesn't react at all if I say 'No' - doesn't even hesitate at whatever he is doing. I have to physically pick him up to move him away from whatever I am saying No to. Then he pitches a fit, stiffens up and screams. I've tried leaving him on the floor and letting him scream, distracting him with something else, holding him while he screams (but he is getting strong!). Doesn't seem to make a difference. As soon as he is calm he goes straight back to what he was doing and we start all over again.
He doesn't respond often when I shout his name and still isn't using any words at all. I was worried about his hearing at first but he can hear me open crisps in another room just fine! I'm starting to get worried about his development as he doesn't make eye contact often either, has a very short attention span with any one toy and seems to have no sense of danger. Everything seems to say he should be using at least a couple to words in context now but I am struggling with how to develop speech when he just ignores me (no chance sitting reading a book or singing nursery rhymes etc)
Looking for some reassurance really on how to deal with this and hopefully that it is normal (FTM questioning everything!)
