I wonder if anyone would be so kind as to offer some advice in relation to camhs . My daughter has her first appointment with them tomorrow and we were both wondering what to expect. She is being referred due to self harm and and being verbally and physically abused by her father and family . Any support or advice would be greatly appreciated x

They will be asking about current problem, how long it’s been going on etc. Would expect they will ask about family relationships, any important events growing up. They will probably also ask about school, friends, hobbies.
Remind her this is about getting help and though it’s anxiety provoking to talk about personal things it’s importn to be honest. It’s likely she will have some time on her own with whoever does the assessment so if there’s anything she’s worried about saying in front of you she should get a chance,

Services vary across the country but this may be good for her to look at camhs.cnwl.nhs.uk/children/mental-health-first-appointment-visit/

Hope it’s helpful and that she’s able to get some support x
