Omg these nappies stink... UTI?

1 year has really smelly wet nappies the past few days, with the last one being the worst.. I actually thought she had pooped. She is also a tiny bit red around her vagina, and even after wiping I can still smell her.

She has been super grumpy the past week, and suddenly started waking in the night which we have put down to wonder weeks and teething - she is drooling and biting everything again, tends to get her teeth in groups. She is also super clingy, but again I put that down to a develop leap.

No temp but has been warm to the touch and a bit sweaty. OK in herself other than being grumpy and clingy, still playing, but sleeping way more than usual. She normally sleeps 8pm to 8am right through, with 2x 45 min naps but now sleeps 7pm to 11pm then after she's up and down, and is taking 2 x 1.5-2 hour naps.

Could this be a UTI without a big temp? What else could cause the stink?

Sounds like a uti

You wont always get a temperature with an infection, it's just a common sign of one

Best off popping to the drs tomorrow to get her checked by someone and treatment started if required!

Yep sounds like a UTI. They can deteriorate quickly so if she gets worse take her to out of hours doc

Thank you, she's been like this for a few days so will continue to monitor and phone GP if no better tomorrow or go to out of hours if she gets worse.

Just never heard of it with no temp. She's at 36.7 just now, normally around 36.

are you bf? I remember eating certain foods and my little ones wee and poo smelling of the food (cabbage and once spicy curry)?

OnNaturesCourse · 13/11/2018 16:23

No. She is on 16oz formula, cow & gate fruit pots and whatever we eat. Nothing that I think would cause the smell, nothing in her diet has changed in past week.

And, of course, a tonne of water and cup of juice.

How's your daughter doing now?

Kittykat93 · 13/11/2018 21:44

Definitely gp to check what's going on.

Aside from being up all night wanting calpol and water she is OK. No temp at all, but still a tad grumpy...which is likely due to her refusing to sleep at normal hours.,
