Toddler carseat advice please

Hi all toddler is 3 end of Jan. She is currently forward facing in a two way elite in mine and her dad's car and a joie steadi in her nanas .
I have a 06 focus no top tethers. Partner has a 07 c max. No top tether that I know of.
She is a big, tall girl who is 37lb. 18kg I believe is 39/40lb. So I only have a few pounds left and she has outgrown all 3 seats by weight.
She is forward facing now, has been around 6 months and want to stay that way. Any ideas what to do next. Is it a high back booster?!

37lb is 16.8kg and it usually takes children quite a long time to put on a whole kilogram at this age. It does sound like she will outgrow her current seat before she turns 4 though, in which case you would need a seat that is harnessed to 25kg. There are a few forward facing ones on the market (Diono - Radian 5; Cozy ‘n’ Safe - Excalibur; and Joie - Bold), but I believe they all require a top tether, unless something new has come to the market recently.

Apparently high back boosters are not safe for children under 4 as their bones are not mature enough. That said, people often do move their children into a HBB before they turn 4.

You could contact a specialist car seat retailer to ask their advice (eg: In Car Safety Centre) or find an advice group on Facebook. A lot of the advice groups (eg: Car Seat Advice UK) are very focused on extended rear facing though and will probably just tell you to rear face her in a 25kg seat.

Good luck, it's a tricky one!

I thought the 2 way elite was a 25kg seat?

The older TWE is 25kg both ff and rf. the newer model is inly 18kg ff

Your only option for a harnassed seat is to rear face your TWE. You can't use any 25kg FF seat without isofix and top tether.

She's very young for a high back booster. Could you trust her to sit still without touching the seatbelt? Not fall asleep? Does she even fit one by height so the seatbelt would be in the correct place?

I did rear facing until 2.5 years old and that was enough for us. She is super tall and I was fed up of literally no one else i knew rear facing and asking why she was still sitting like that.
I have the new twe that only forward faces until 18kg. Hopefully it will take a good while for the 3 pound to go on? Xx

She is very young for a booster sea in terms of bone maturity. My son will be 4 at the end of Jan and he's just got to 15kg. We have a Maxi Cosi Axiss and a Tobi and I'm keeping him in them as long as I can still squish him in there up to 18kg. I have a fiend with a boy 4 months younger and he is almost 21kgs and after an accident they went to get a new car seat and the shop wouldnt sell them a direct replacement because he was over the 18kg weight limit. I'd say get an up to 25kg seat if you can.

Up to 25kg forward facing won't work unfortunatly as I have no top tethers

I guess you have no choice but to get a high backed booster. Cybex have some goid reviews. I think that's what I will get next x
