What time do your kids go to bed and how old are they?

I send mine - nearly 7 and just turned 8, up at 8pm (except on ds1's cubs night, and on a Saturday when they score an extra half an hour!). I am just wondering if that is about average, or if I am being mean! Also wondering how long I am realistically going to get away with keeping it 8pm!

DD (5yo) goes to bed at 7:30pm on a school night. Later at weekends/holidays, sometimes a lot later depending on where we are and what we are doing. Works very well for us as DD sleeps in late if she goes to bed late, so we get a lie in

SenoraPostrophe · 18/06/2007 20:10

8pm and they're 5 and 3.

but we don't have to leave the house until 8.50 on school days. If we had to leave earlier, they'd go to bed earlier.

DD (nearly 5) goes at half seven schoolnights. Sometimes later at the weekend.

DD 11 months - 7:30pm. And she sleeps thru [smug emoticon]. I know she is prob too young for this thread, but she is a cool cat so if I can find somewhere to post about her I will!

DS - 2 yrs - bed between 7-7.30 and sleeps a full 12 hours straight through

Quattrocento · 18/06/2007 20:29

My two (7&9) go to bed at the same time - which is 8pm on a school night. They are not allowed out of their bedrooms on pain of something dire - not quite sure what - because we got sick of the pretexts they would invent to get out of bed.

They are allowed to read until 9 but every electronic gizmo has to be switched off. On Fridays and Saturdays and holidays everything gets pushed back an hour.

ViciousSquirrelSpotter · 18/06/2007 20:29

DS 8 - 7pm with half an hour reading till 7.30

DD 5 - 7pm

Dd is just 6, goes up at about 6.45 - 7pm for a story and is in bed with the lights out by 7.30 at the latest. Without exception.

She needs her sleep; she's not very good at getting up in the mornings even though we don't have to get her up until 8am!

Loshad · 18/06/2007 22:11

7.30 for 6 yo, 8pm for 9 yo - 9yo really needs his sleep, 6yo up and down like yo-yo for ages, but 9 yo complains if he goes to bed first. 12yo goes at 9.30, 13.5 yo has lost the plot and have just heard him leave his bedroom now

Elibean · 18/06/2007 22:20

dd1 3.5 up 8pm lights out 8.15-8.30 and rarely sleeps before 9pm no matter how early she goes to bed. Up at 8am or earlier of own doing. Has never slept more than 11 hours, but seems fine on it.

dd2 7 months 7pm

naturalnursery · 19/06/2007 00:53

The aim is for 7.30(age 3) but it doesn't always happen.

prettymum · 19/06/2007 01:35

dd(2.7) and ds(11 months)- 8pm to 7-8am

jinxed · 19/06/2007 05:27

DD1 - 2.11mnths 7.30pm latest
DD2 - 1.8mnths 7pm latest

cruisemum1 · 19/06/2007 06:41

pav - she sleeps thru!!??? . that's great! Mine too

mankyscotslass · 19/06/2007 07:54

ds 5 goes at 7.15
dd 3 1/2 goes at 6.15
ds 20mths goes at 7.15
All are early risers, but keeping them up late only results in grumpy kids as they still get up anytime between 5.30 and 6.30.

Flamesparrow · 19/06/2007 07:56

4 and 15 months - normally about 7.30pm, but can be anywhere from 6.30pm depending on their tiredness/my need for them to go!

They don't necessarily sleep then though - they are allowed to play until about 8.30pm if they want to.

I am fairly lucky, DD has always put herself back to bed when she is tired after playing, and DS sleeps through her playing so he falls asleep when he is ready too
