Hi everyone. U would really appreciate some advice. My 15yo DD is about to do GCSEs so we are now looking at the next step of 6th form. She wants to go to a college which is an hours commute away and would cost approx £700 a year in train fare. Her reasoning is that it has film studies and its a college so more relaxed on uniform and being on site. She also says that it will require her to be more independent which will prepare her for uni. My concern is that 1. this colleges results are not a scratch on our local school options. 2. Film studies seems to be a new thing she has recently raised yet she is saying this is critical to her choice. 3. It appears her friends are going there so im questioning her real motivation. 4. She has not been known for being massively self motivated to date so would a more relaxed college be suitable? 5. If my husband and I say no to this she could then be upset and mess up her a levels and blame it on us. My husband and i are trying to navigate this. Any advice gratefully received!
