More days needed at Preschool?

I’m a SAHP and I’ve got a 3 month old and a toddler. my son is 2.5 and currently goes to Nursery one day a week and preschool one morning a week. The nursery is because that’s where he used to go full time when I worked and he knows the people so I thought I’d keep it going. we started preschool in September to try it out as it’s a lot cheaper!
He’s ALWAYS been bad at drop off, even when in nursery full time - crying for 5 mins but then calming down and enjoying himself. He still does this at both nursery and preschool currently.
Preschool are telling me that if he goes to their setting more than one morning a week he would be less upset, but not sure I agree with them!! I feel pressured by them to up his sessions.
Really don’t know what to do - as I made the decision to be a SAHP I’m thinking it’s silly to put him in childcare more when we’ve got a good routine at the moment also!
Any advice?

Swap to pre school instead dof nursery, he's probably confused!

I have worked in childcare for many years. It definitely takes children a lot longer to settle if they only attend one day a week. Having 6 days between each session means the child is away for too long. I would recommend at least 2 days in a row.

However, some children do cry at drop-off. They love to make their parents feel bad for abandoning them Grin Once mummy goes away feeling sufficiently guilty, they go and have a lovely day at nursery Wink

As long as you know he enjoys nursery then don’t worry.

He seems to enjoy both settings after drop off. I’ve occaisonally paused in the cloak room after drop off and his crying stops really quickly and I hear him chatting away. When I pick him up he’s always happy and eager to tell me what he did that day!
Unfortunately neither preschool nor nursery can currently offer me two consecutive days which makes it tougher as even if he went more often it wouldn’t be consistent for him. As I said before even when he used to go to nursery 5 days week he used to cry, although he was younger then!
